Future nursing education is challenged to develop innovative and effective programs that align with current changes in health care and to educate nurses with a high level of clinical reasoning skills, evidence-based knowledge, and professional autonomy. Nursing Students Managing Deteriorating Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Abstract Background The objective was to summarize knowledge and systematically collect and quantify meta-analytical results regarding the effects of high-fidelity simulation in nursing education to improve students' ability to recognize and respond to deteriorating patients. Methods In total, 4048 citations were screened, 40 articles were selected for full-text screening, and 14 articles were included. Six articles were subsequently included in the meta-analysis. Results Knowledge and performance increased after simulation. Four studies reported an increase in self-confidence. Experiences with the use of complementary and alternative medicine in nursing homes: A focus group study.

Abstract Introduction The use of complementary and alternative medicine is increasing outside the Norwegian public health service. The purpose of this study was to gain insight into the experiences of nurses and auxiliary nurses with the use of CAM in care for nursing home residents. Method Focus group interviews with a total of thirteen nurses and auxiliary nurses from three nursing homes were conducted. Data were analyzed using systematic text condensation. Results Participants had experiences from aromatherapy, plant medicine, music therapy and pet therapy. Moral development among students is central for nursing education, because nursing is informed by moral ends, and it is essential that professional nurses have a well developed ability for moral behaviour, ethical reasoning and decision making. The present study aimed to examine the relationship between the quality of undergraduate education perceived by novice nurses and their retrospective satisfaction with their education.
